Myriad Media President Named to Kids Voting Board

Myriad Media President, Will Feichter, was elected to the Board of Directors of Kids Voting North Carolina/Wake County at its past meeting.

A private, nonpartisan, nonprofit organization, Kids Voting educates America's youth on the importance of being informed citizens and the responsibilities of voting to sustain democracy. Kids Voting creates an active and informed electorate by engaging students and the community in the democratic process. In Wake County, voter turnout increased more than 19% comparing the 1996 and 2000 elections with this program in place.

"This program is especially important because it helps kids understand the forum for voting in our country," says Will Feichter, newly elected Kids Voting board member. "I am proud to be a part of the Wake County team and to help educate kids. A better informed electorate and higher voter turnout equals a stronger democracy."

In the 2000 General Election nearly 34,000 student from Wake County schools cast ballots at 168 Kids Voting Polling sites to experience the voting process first-hand. Since 1996 nearly 100,000 students have cast Kids Voting ballots in Wake County.

"We are committed to being active in the upcoming mayoral, school board and city races and look forward to working with kids and civic organizations," says Feichter.

Kids Voting cuts across all boundaries - geographic, ethnic, cultural and demographic to encourage everyone to participate. Kids Voting is as close to the real thing as anyone under the age of 18 can get.
